ANGE Postecoglou is urging his Tottenham stars to seize their opportunity in Alkmaar and ensure a troubled season has the sweetest ending.

With their domestic campaign petering out in lower mid-table, Spurs face AZ in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie as the favourites to lift the trophy in Bilbao come May.

As head coach Postecoglou welcomes back Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke, below, from injury, he is confident his side have enough character to prosper in a competition the club has historically struggled in.

Although Spurs reached the Champions League final in 2019, their record in the Europa League is poor, with only two quarter-finals in 10 appearances this millennium.

Spurs head coach Postecoglou said: "It's fair to say the boys really understand there is a great opportunity for us.
