Life for West End murder
Anthony Gilheaney's Mercedes mounts the pavement in London's West End, right
A DRIVER who deliberately mowed down five people — killing one — in a racist and homophobic rampage on Christmas Day has been jailed for at least 37 years.
Drunk Anthony Gilheaney, 32, was convicted of murdering Aidan Chapman, 25, with his high-powered Mercedes in 2024.
The Old Bailey heard Gilheaney emerged from a nightclub in the early hours, argued with one stranger, punched another then attacked Hardeep Singh, a Sikh man, who was walking along Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End.
He returned to his car and shouted a racist slur at pedestrian Arif Khan, who went to confront him.
