£20k payout for ex-cop wrongly arrested over 'thought crime'

A RETIRED special constable has received £20,000 compensation from the police after being wrongly arrested over a social media post warning about antisemitism.
Julian Foulkes, 71, was handcuffed as six officers arrived at his home days after he challenged a supporter of pro-Palestinian marches on X in November 2023.
His house in Gillingham was searched by Kent Police the force he served for a decade - and his gadgets seized while officers commented on his "very Brexity" book collection.
Mr Foulkes was detained for eight hours before being questioned over a potential charge of malicious communications.
