HAJI GRABS WINNER TO COMPLETE ANOTHER SKY BLUES COMEBACK

- By ANDY TURNER Sky Blues Reporter

WRIGHT TIME, RIGHT PLACE

COVENTRY City came from behind to secure all three points at home for the fourth time this term, with second-half goals from Ellis Simms and Haji Wright overturning Leicester's early advantage at the CBS Arena.

The Foxes were the better of the two sides in the first half of a highly-charged M69 derby and grabbed a 10th-minute lead through Jordan James.

Simms levelled for the Sky Blues less than two minutes into the second half when he got a touch to a Jack Rudoni shot before the goal scorer was replaced by Wright who slid in with a far post finish from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto's shot to secure a huge three points.

Crucially, the win restored a bit of confidence and maintained Coventry's six-point gap on second-placed Middlesbrough. Here are some of the big talking points:

Frank Lampard named arguably his strongest bench of the season so far and it was no coincidence that his substitutes combined for the winner against Leicester.

Having the likes of Haji Wright and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto to go on in like-for-like changes for Ellis Simms and Romain Esse proved to be the difference between the Sky Blues going on to win the game rather than taking a point against their East Midland rivals.

The City boss had to make do and mend - something the players did magnificently in the first half of the season but that wasn’t sustainable. And now, finally, the manager has the tools at his disposal to be able to do his job properly at the business end of the campaign with real attacking options to call upon and game-changing players.
