The richest and poorest areas in Cov and Warks

THE gap between Coventry and Warwickshire’s richest and poorest neighbourhoods is growing, with those at the top having over £21,000 more to spend a year than those at the bottom.

Households in the Leamington West & Milverton neighbourhood of Warwick had an average disposable income of £47,500 after tax in the financial year ending 2023. That makes the area Warwickshire's highest-earning neighbourhood, according to new data released by the Office for National Statistics.

By contrast, Lower Stoke & Gosford Park in Coventry had the lowest average income in the area. Households in the neighbourhood had an average disposable income of just over £26,200 a year.

That's almost half that of Leamington West & Milverton, and works out as an income gap of £21,300 a year less.

When the data was last released for the financial year ending 2020, the gap between Coventry and Warwickshire’s richest and poorest neighbourhoods was £20,200 a year, suggesting the income gap has grown by 5% in the space of just three years.

Earlsdon & Canley Gardens is the highest earning neighbourhood within Coventry itself.

Households there had an average disposable income of £44,600 a year. That's £18,400 more than in the city's poorest neighbourhood. It’s also £12,000 a year more than in neighbouring Central Coventry, where the average household disposable income was £32,600 a year.

The gap between England and Wales’ richest and poorest neighbourhoods is growing even faster than in Merseyside, with those at the top having almost £87,000 more to spend a year than those at the bottom.
