Residents to be asked on the future of council services

LOCALS will be asked their views on the future of council services in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

A new Local Government Reform Sub-Committee is set to hold its first meeting at the Town Hall.

In the council report for the meeting, it explains that a public consultation is due to be launched across the county on the issue.

It is no secret that the government wants to bring in changes to local government and this includes to ending all two tier systems, which is what currently runs in Warwickshire with the county council and five borough and district councils.

It has previously been revealed that a 'divorce' from Warwickshire is on the cards as plans for a single Warwickshire council are not favoured by the district and borough councils.

Instead a new 'North' council was proposed as the 'most effective' option in an independent report comprising of Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire and Rugby Borough councils.
