Parade pride

BEDWORTH marked VE 80 in style by hosting a proud Freedom of the Borough Parade.
It saw around 150 soldiers from the 30 Signal and Queens Gurkha Signals, stationed at nearby Bramcote Barracks, proudly march through the town centre yesterday.
Both regiments have the Freedom of the Borough, the highest accolade that the council can bestow. Having previously staged parades in Nuneaton, it was Bedworth's turn on what was an historic day not just for the town, but the nation.
The soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder in front of the town's poignant peace podium ahead of full inspection by civic dignitaries in which the regiments displayed incredible military precision.
