DAYS after announcing that a landmark development in Newquay was fine and proceeding as planned, the developer behind the scheme has gone into administration.

Residents questioning if landmark development will ever be finished

Early last week, Truro-based Stephens & Stephens reassured the community that the scheme overlooking Fistral Beach would be finished.

One Pentire, a block of 74 apartments on the site of the former Fistral Bay Hotel, looks ready but remains unoccupied.

Now it has emerged that one firm linked to the scheme has gone into administration. In total, there are three firms - all belonging to Stephens & Stephens - that are linked to the development. Which has gone into administration is unclear at this stage.

The Pentire Residents Association was among those to raise questions about the unfinished development.
