THERE are high hopes for the future of Newquay Zoo after a deal was struck to save it from potential extinction.

When the attraction was put up for sale fears were expressed that it might close, but now a new owner has been found.
Owner the Wild Planet Trust has confirmed that Libema, a Dutch leisure company, will take over its commercial operations from January 2.
It will also assume control of Paignton Zoo, likewise owned by the Wild Planet Trust.
Libema consists of 20 businesses, including four zoos.
