ANC Vhembe battle heats up ahead of regional elective conference
Capricorn Review
|April 30, 2025
THE ANC Vhembe's long-delayed regional elective conference is now scheduled to take place from May 3-4 at the Nandoni Waterfront, and will determine the leadership of one of Limpopo's most influential ANC regions.
After several postponements, the Vhembe regional conference is finally set to proceed, despite the region failing to meet the national deadline of the end of May. In the run-up to the conference, tensions within the ANC's local structures have escalated, with the region once again deeply divided. Two rival factions have emerged, each campaigning fiercely for their preferred candidates.
At stake is political control over four local municipalities and one district municipality, regarded as key power centres in Limpopo's second-largest ANC constituency.
