In a fitting tribute to a visionary scientist, the historic Nizam Club in Hyderabad hosted a grand felicitation ceremony for Dr. B. Dayakar Rao, Principal Scientist at ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (ICAR-IIMR) and CEO/Director of Nutrihub, on the occasion of his superannuation.

The event celebrated his remarkable contributions to millet research, value chain development, and the transformation of India's agri-entrepreneurship landscape.

Dr. Rao, part of the 38th batch of scientists recruited into ICAR, leaves behind a legacy defined by innovation, dedication, and national impact. With over three decades of service, he has become synonymous with India's millet movement, playing a key role in elevating these ancient grains to the center of national and global food security agendas.

Raghunandan Rao, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Telangana, graced the occasion with his esteemed presence at the day-long event held at Nizam Club. He extended his heartfelt respects and lauded Dr. Dayakar Rao for his unwavering dedication to transforming India's millet ecosystem. As a token of appreciation, he presented a shawl to Dr. Rao, honoring his remarkable contributions.

The celebration was attended by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries, including scientists, bureaucrats, policymakers, religious leaders, celebrities, media professionals, and well-wishers from across the country. The event also highlighted the retirement of his fellow ICAR batch mates, including Dr. M.V.L.N. Raju, Dr. B.L.N. Reddy, Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Dr. Asokan R., and Dr. Amrish Tyagi, each distinguished in their respective fields.
