: The Congress party staged a massive dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Wednesday, demanding the immediate approval of the bills granting 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, education, and employment in Telangana.
-
The protest was spearheaded by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, joined by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC President Mukesh Kumar Goud, several ministers, MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons, DCC presidents, and BC association leaders.
Addressing the gathering, CM Revanth Reddy issued a direct challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government. He accused the Centre of blocking the bills and delaying justice to the weaker sections of society.
“Our government has passed the bills and sent them to the Centre, but Modi and the BJP are obstructing them. This dharna is not for politics but to secure 42 percent BC reservation. If Modi does not heed our demand, we will fight politically and ensure Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister,” Revanth Reddy said.
