Youngsters shine at Eskom Expo Cape Town Regional Science Fair

THE Mother City’s top young scientists demonstrated their talent and innovation at the Eskom Expo Cape Town Regional Science Fair.
The regional science fair held at UCT'’s Sports Centre last week featured 223 projects showcased by 332 young scientists in Grades 4-12 and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) NC(V) Level 2 to NC(V) Level 4 students. These learners progressed in their Expo journeys after taking part in various activities throughout the year, including workshops and District Expos.
The most popular category at this year’s fair was Social Sciences, with 44 entries, followed by strong participation in Engineering (35), Biomedical and medical sciences (27) and Chemistry and Biochemistry (26).
Eskom Expo Cape Town's Regional Science Fair Director, Thomas Mtontsi commended the learners for their curiosity, creativity and determination in presenting innovative projects that reflect the future of science and technology in Cape Town.
