Zuma faces loss of home, pension over R28.9m court order
Cape Argus
|October 23, 2025
IF FORMER President Jacob Zuma does not pay back the R28.9 million as ordered by the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria yesterday, he could lose his home as well as part of his State pension benefit.
Judge Anthony Millar ordered that his state pension - or a portion of it - can be attached to assist in footing the bill for his legal fees in case Zuma does not abide by the court order to pay the millions back.
The same goes for his moveable and immovable property. The judge ordered that if Zuma did not pay up within 60 days of this order, the State Attorney is directed to have a writ of execution issued by the Registrar of this Court for the attachment and sale in execution of Zuma’ property.
While Zuma’ legal team said in court papers that he does not have the means to pay, the judge further ordered that interest should be added to some of his debt, calculated from last year up until he has paid the debt.

Is Motsepe the answer to SA’s political crisis?
If PATRICE Motsepe, with his unequalled, impeccable credentials, the only person who could rescue South Africa from total collapse, could tell us, as he is alleged to have said, when he was first approached by leaders in the ANC party, to throw his hat in the ring in the contest to become President Cyril Ramaphosa’s successor, he is alleged to have said he was not mad enough to join politics.
