Father faces charges for forcing toddler to drink beer

THE father arrested on a charge of child abuse after a video surfaced of him allegedly forcing his four-year-old son to drink beer, is remanded into prison cells until his next court date while activists are calling for more people to be held accountable.
Last week the Department of Social Development (DSD) removed four children between the ages of seven months and 11 years from the Tafelsig home in Mitchells Plain.
The man, who may not be identified, made his first appearance at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court yesterday on a charge of child abuse. The matter was postponed to December 8. The father remains at Pollsmoor Prison.
Last week, the Cape Argus revealed that whistleblowers called on police to react to a video where the young boy was allegedly forced to drink beer.
