Community in shock after shooting near mosque

A 35-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead outside a mosque in Maitland, prompting community outrage and fears of increasing violence at places of worship.
According to reports, the victim was shot in broad daylight near the mosque shortly after prayers.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said: “Maitland police registered a murder case following a shooting incident on Friday at 2.03pm at the corner of Patton Street and Coronation Road, Maitland, in which a 35-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded.
