City invests R20m in Manenberg's sports facilities

SEVEN years ago, the City’s Recreation and Parks Department vowed to inject a total of R19.3 million into sports facilities across the metro, and now they have delivered with a R20 million upgrade to Manenberg’s “The Green's Sports Ground”.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis officially handed over the newly-upgraded Manenberg Sports Ground to the community this week together with councillor Francine Higham, mayco member for Community Services and Health and ward councillor Deidre de Vos.
The sports ground underwent a major facelift and now features a full-size astroturf field plus two five-a-side pitches, and fields are equipped with floodlights for evening matches.
