KNIGHTON ADMITS SEEING ACADEMY YOUNGSTERS LEAVE U'S IS HARD
CAMBRIDGE United academy manager Dom Knighton acknowledges that the club had to make some “difficult decisions” to release some of their young players.
The U's confirmed in their retained list last week that young professionals Brandon Njoku, Dan Barton, Louis Chadwick and Amaru Kaunda will leave the club when their deals expire this summer.
Njoku and Barton featured frequently for United's first team during Garry Monk's time in charge, making 32 and 20 appearances this season respectively.
United have also announced the departure of several second-year scholars, with Ty Ewens Findlay, Randy Bulakio, Peter Holmes, Danny Tyler Cowlin and Reece Hipwell all not being retained by the club.
