"THIS is not true" is Cambridgeshire County Council's response to Stagecoach East's comment that they have been given little notice over speed reductions on the Cambridgeshire guided busway.

County council hits back at Stagecoach criticism on speed limits

As of yesterday, (Monday, October 6) the speed limit has been cut from 30mph to 20mph to allow permanent safety fencing and barriers to be installed along the busway.

The 20mph speed limit is expected to be in place until the end of 2026.

Stagecoach East described the "extreme disappointment" - stating they had been given "short notice" for the changes. Darren Roe, managing director of Stagecoach East, said: "At Stagecoach, our highest priority is safety, so we are very aware of the importance of making safety improvements - the simple fact is that there is no option: this work needs to be done.
