Amber alert is extended as east swelters in heat

WARNING TO TAKE IT EASY WITH TEMPERATURES FORECAST IN 30°S

AN AMBER heat health warning issued for the East of England has been extended by the Government.

The alert, which will affect Cambridgeshire, will now remain in place until 9am tomorrow (Wednesday).

The county has been given a risk score of 13, meaning it is highly likely the area will be impacted by the higher temperatures. The Government has said health and social care services are likely to be significantly impacted by the alert.

The current hot weather is forecast to continue through Tuesday, with the potential for temperatures as high as 33°C in parts of Cambridgeshire.

Under the Weather-Health Alert system, an amber alert means that weather impacts are likely to be felt across the whole health service. At this level, there may be some health impacts across the wider population.
