THE Department of Finance (DOF) is pushing for stronger regional financial cooperation within Asean+3, focused on disaster risk financing, policy coordination and new mechanisms to help economies withstand global and regional shocks.

DOF eyes robust Asean+3 ties against global shocks

A statement issued by the DOF last Monday cited initiatives on disaster risk financing in response to climate-related challenges. According to the DOF, these initiatives gathered support from member countries to develop a regional roadmap for resilience and preparedness.

According to the DOF, the roadmap will be taken up further during the April meeting of Finance and Central Bank Deputies under Asean+3. a cooperation framework comprising the ten Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) member states plus China, Japan, and South Korea.
