THOUSANDS of students found out their A-Level results yesterday as they plot their future steps - whether that be at university, an apprenticeship or the workforce.

It wan't just A-levels though, students also collected T-level and Vocational Technical Qualifications (VTQ) results.

A record number of students at Abbot Beyne School, in Winshill, have achieved the grades necessary to attend their first choice university.

Headteacher Jamie Tickle said the schools is particularly proud of:

■Joseph French: A - Physics, A - Maths, A - Chemistry, A - EPQ - going to Harper Adams University to study Environmental Management and Sustainability.

■George Hickling: A* - Geography, A - History, B - English Literature - going to the University of Birmingham to study Law.

Mr Tickle added: "I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of the staff and students at Abbot Beyne School. We are overjoyed that this effort has paid off with record results and the vast majority of our students obtaining their first choice university."

Around 100 sixth form students at Uttoxeter's Thomas Alleyne's High School also celebrated a strong set of A-Level and BTEC results.

Headteacher Julie Rudge, who is due to leave the school, said: "This year's A-Level results are a testament to the hard work, determination and resilience our students have shown.

"As I leave Thomas Alleyne's, I wish them all the very best for the future, confident that they will achieve great things and make a positive difference in our community."

Incoming headteacher, Lou Heywood, added: "On behalf of everyone at Thomas Alleyne's, I'd like to congratulate our sixth form leavers.
