THE first day of the Burton Athletics Club Championships brought 83 personal bests, one English schools entry standard and three club records.

One came in the first race, 70m hurdles, with under-13 Morireoluwa Adeosun winning in 18.2 seconds, just ahead of under-11 Rachel Russell, whose 18.3 was a record.

Abigail Redpath won the under-15 75m hurdles with 13.7 and Tanat-sirwa Chikuruwo won the senior women 100m hurdles in 21.0. Adeosun also won the 150m heat one in 23.1.

The next two 75m were all under-13s, Harry Smethurst winning heat two in 21.4. Heat three went to Dominic Adams in 23.4.

The first 200m saw a clear win for Charlie Stewart in 26.6 and there was an M65 club record for Paul Edwards in 32.5, several months after his second hip replacement.

Heat two saw Noemie Bruyere edge her sister Morgane in 28.7, then there was a clear win for Ciera Standley in heat three in, 28.2.

Sam Roberts showed his potential in the under-15s, winning heat four in 24.4.

Heat five was very close with Isabelle Smith edging it in 26.5 from Rosie Tyler and Isla Swindlehurst in 26.6. Heat six saw Charles Jeanes win in 23.8.

Isla Fletcher won the under-11 600m, while Ricardo Ferrero led from the gun in the first 800m, winning in 2.45.6.

Max Gallie of Nottinghamshire won the next heat in 2.41.6 from V50 Adam Grew in 2.46.7. Martha Ashton won heat three in 2.41.

Aleksander Tutt won from the front in heat four in 2.18.8 before a strong final heat saw Kamil Kolodziej take the lead, followed by Ewan Withnall before Henry Hemmings came past them for the win in 1.59.5.
