Ladies impressive to secure victory

HOCKEY: Burton Ladies firsts secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Lichfield fourths in a tense encounter.
Burton went into the game feeling confident, and it didn’t take long to make an impact.
Burton crept up the pitch, connecting their passes and just six minutes in, Sarah Lane found the back of the net to give Burton an early lead.
What followed, however, was far from straightforward as Lichfield came out fighting.
The remainder of the match was nervy, with Burton working hard to maintain their slim advantage. The defensive unit was put to the test, successfully holding off multiple short corners. Despite creating chances and perhaps expecting to extend the lead, Burton were unable to add to the scoreline.
It wasn't the margin Burton might have anticipated, but the determination across the pitch ensured the job was done.
Burton Men's first drew 1-1 with Finchfield.
