HOCKEY: Burton Ladies firsts claimed a 1-0 win against Lichfield thirds.

The game started at a quick pace with Burton seeing a bit more of the attacking play.

This resulted an a very quick goal within four minutes with Micky Shaw driving to the baseline, a ball across the face of the goal for Rachel Brown to deflect in at the back post.

Lichfield soon tightened up their marking and started to see more attacking play, after winning a short corner it was Shaw again in the thick of it saving the shot on the goal line and a few more mini shots on goal afterwards.

In the second half, Lichfield came out with every intention to pull a goal back, Burton midfielders held the wide grounds of the pitch.

The last 10 minutes saw Lichfield step it up again, but with Alex Harrison and Becca Stretton-Thorndell commanding the back line, Burton managed to hold off any more attempts from Lichfield.

BURTON Ladies seconds beat Keele University 3-2.
