639 people in East Staffs stopped and searched last year

FIGURES REVEALED FOR WHOLE OF 2024 SHOW THE POWERS WERE USED 6,611 TIMES IN WIDER COUNTY

POLICE officers in East Staffordshire carried out a total of 639 stop searches last year, according to the latest data.

The figures are revealed in a new Staffordshire Police report, and were compiled using the force’s data management system, Business Objects.

The data relating to the whole of 2024 reveals that 6,611 stop searches were conducted across the county, of which 410 concerned vehicles.

A total of 15 per cent led to an arrest, while 39 per cent resulted in a ‘positive outcome’ this may include a caution, a community resolution, or the seizure of property.
