N league games were arranged as the first rounds of the Alf Bosley, Norman Goulding and Len Bartlett League Cups were played.

- Derek CUMNER

Luckily, despite the fierce winds of Friday night, all games went ahead.

In the Alf Bosley Cup, last season’s finalists Warmley Redbridge and Wessex Wanderers fell at the first hurdle, both going down to a single goal.

Woodies Berry scored the only of the game for St Aldhelms at Headley Park against Wessex Wanderers.

Holders Warmley Redbridge lost by the same score at the King George V Rec against Avonmouth Reserves.

Joe Smith gave Almondsbury Reserves a 10th-minute lead at home to local rivals Filton Athletic Reserves before the Athletic equalised six minutes later through substitute Theo-Sean Boulton, who had just come on for injured Daniel Matthews.

Toby Kellett restored Almondsbury’s lead on 35 minutes to make it 2-1 at halftime. Smith, with his second goal 15 minutes from time, clinched Almondsbury’s place in the second round.

At the BAWA, hosts AFC Bohemia shared two goals with Henbury & Rockleaze Reserves, who won the penalty shootout 5-4.

Hartcliffe FC moved into the next round because opponents Bromley Heath United Reserves could not raise a side.
