Rampage Knife-wielding vandals slash tyres and scratch vehicles
Bristol Post
|July 03, 2025
RESIDENTS in an area of South Bristol have spoken of their anger and frustration after vandals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage on a knife-slashing rampage.
The crime spree saw cars and vans parked in the Hengrove area attacked over a prolonged period of time in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Neighbours reported that around 30 cars were targeted by two people on at least five streets some were scratched and scored by a man with a knife while almost all had at least one tyre punctured, they said.
Drivers in Tarnock Avenue, Cornhill Drive, Walsh Avenue, Great Hayles Road and side roads in between were affected, and during the day on Tuesday, a mobile tyre fitter was a constant presence in the streets, moving from one scene to the next to repair the vehicles. One resident said local tyre garages, including Kwik Fit in Whitchurch, were inundated with custom throughout Tuesday, as residents woke to find their cars damaged.
Police were on the scene before 5am on Tuesday, and even sent text messages at that time to car owners who were asleep in their beds, unaware at what had happened outside.
