More city firms in financial distress

BRISTOL is facing a huge hike in company financial distress, with nearly 5,000 businesses now in the danger zone, according to new data.

The latest Red Flag Alert report from business consultants Begbies Traynor shows the number of Bristol businesses in “significant distress” stands at 4,976.
This figure represents a substantial 22.5 per cent hike on the same time last year, mirroring the region's worsening economic climate. In Devon, more than 10,500 businesses are in danger of going under, while Cornwall has 2,500 in jeopardy.
