Jewson/Hellenic Spot-kick success sends Hallen through to third round

HALLEN are the only local side left in the FA Vase after a penalty shootout success at last season’s semifinalists Andover New Street.
The second-round tie finished goalless, but Hallen kept their nerve to win 4-1 on spot-kicks in the second-round tie.
Cory Thomas-Barker, George King, Elliot Gardner and Luke Bence scored the Hallen penalties, while New Street missed one spot-kick and had another saved by Harry Thomas-Barker.
Two other local Hellenic League sides, Roman Glass St George and Thornbury Town, were both knocked out of the competition.
Roman Glass, sitting top of the Hellenic Premier, were beaten 1-0 by Hamworthy Recreation at Oaklands Park, after Josh Toope’s second-half strike for the visitors.
Thornbury Town were edged out 3-2 at Hythe & Dibden, having been two up at halftime.
In a mid-table Hellenic League Premier Division game, Mangotsfield United went down 2-0 at Fairford Town. Cribbs sit in 16th place following a 1-0 home reverse to Highworth Town.
