GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S Second XI and batting coach Owen Dawkins has been appointed head coach of Scotland.

Dawkins has been a loyal servant to the club for more than 20 years, first joining the professional coaching team under Mark Alleyne in late 2006.

Stepping into international cricket, he joins Cricket Scotland at a key moment for the men's high-performance programme. With the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, the next T20 World Cup cycle, and cricket's return to the Olympics in 2028 on the horizon, Dawkins will work alongside Gordon Drummond, who has been appointed assistant coach.

Dawkins, pictured, was part of the coaching group that helped Gloucestershire win the Vitality Blast for the first time in 2024, and as an ECB Level 4 coach is among the most highly qualified coaches in the UK.
