Community groups invited to bid for apple trees

COMMUNITY groups across Bristol and Somerset are being encouraged to apply for free apple trees as a cider maker launches its orchard project for the sixth year running.

Thatchers Cider has pledged to donate 500 trees to 50 organisations to help them transform outdoor spaces and bring people together through nature.
The initiative has already distributed more than 2,000 trees to groups including Glenny Wood Scout Camp, Ravenswood Special School in Nailsea and Portishead Football Club since its inception.
Other previous recipients in the region include Children’s Hospice Southwest, Frampton Cotterell Nature Reserve and Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group
