Struber believes it is “crystal clear” other clubs will knock on Bristol City's door for Zak Vyner and Anis Mehmeti, and though the Robins boss hopes both players will pen new deals, he admits not everything is in the club’s hands.Vyner and Mehmeti are two of a handful of players in Struber’s first team squad, including Mark Sykes, Max O'Leary, Sam Bell, and Harry Cornick, who are entering the final year of their City contracts.

Although City’s intention for the other players named above is not yet clear, the Robins’ hierarchy has been open in confirming Vyner and Mehmeti have been offered new terms to extend their stay in BS3. As recently as last weekend, CEO Tom Rawcliffe confirmed talks were progressing in an interview with Robins TV. But with the January transfer window now open, the future of both first-team regulars has again been brought into focus, with reports emerging to suggest there is Championship interest in Vyner this month, in particular.
