Building safety Council ‘determined to build back trust’ with tenants
Bristol Post
|August 28, 2025
BRISTOL City Council's chief has said the authority is “determined to build back trust” with its high rise tenants.
-
The council has faced considerable scrutiny in the wake of incidents such as the evacuation of Barton House in November 2023, following which it was criticised for failing to consult properly with residents beforehand and adequately meet their needs in the aftermath.
Now, following what it described as “extensive engagement and consultation with residents over the last 12 months’, it has published a new Resident Engagement Strategy for Building Safety which sets out how it will communicate and engage with residents in high-rise council blocks about building safety issues.
This included telephone surveys with more than 800 residents, a public consultation which received over 220 responses and engagement with organisations who work with council residents.
