BRISTOL woman with a rare lung condition has conquered a huge challenge by running the distance of four marathons across four days.
Harriet Davidson and the team at the finish in front of Salisbury Cathedral
Harriet Davidson, 31, took on the extraordinary physical and personal feat to raise awareness about the incurable disease she lives with.
She was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) in 2019, a rare condition causes lung cysts and can affect the kidneys. Thanks to the medication Rapamycin, she has been able to stabilise her condition and remain active.
Harriet ran four marathons back-to-back over four consecutive days. She set off from Bristol to her husband Adam's home city Salisbury, raising awareness and funds for LAM Action, the UK charity supporting women affected by the condition. The couple were joined on the runs by Harriet’s best friend Lauren Weetch, and Harriet's mother Mary Saunders in a support car behind.
The trio ran through Somerset, Frome, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, across Salisbury Plain, before finishing outside Salisbury Cathedral on February 28, which was Rare Disease Day.
