Officers trained in life-saving medicine to tackle county's 'huge drug issue'

ALMOST 300 officers have been trained to use a life-saving medicine as part of an effort to tackle the “huge drug issue” in Lincolnshire.

Officers across the county have been shown how to administer naloxone, a first aid medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

The medication is available from drug treatment providers and some pharmacies. To help combat drug use in the country, Lincolnshire Police have made naloxone training a key part of their strategy, joining forces with the Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership.

The LRP provide free and confidential services for Lincolnshire residents around drug and alcohol use. A total of 270 officers attended an event on Tuesday, May 6, where they were trained to use the nasal spray version of naloxone, Nyxoid.
