WEEKLY food waste collections will be rolled out across the Boston borough after the council approved new collection vehicles.

- BY LAYCIE BECK

Boston Borough Council met in full council on Monday, May 19, to discuss a number of points, including waste in the area.

Councillor Callum Butler put forward a report regarding the waste services delivery model. He proposed that the council takes part in a programme which would involve food waste being taken weekly, and explained this would require changes being made to the vehicles and route used.

He said: "The Environment Act 2021 introduced the waste reform programme for England, a central pillar of this is simpler recycling.

"This requires councils to collect food waste weekly from all households from April 2026. As part of this scheme Boston Borough Council has looked at two ways of collecting the food waste.
