Letter of the day

- Mick Rawcliffe, via email

was disappointed with the report in the paper on Friday, October 24, of a survey, dealing with the thorny subject of council re-organisation.

Cratus Group admitted it wasn't reflective of the 1.5 million residents of Lancashire, and blamed a lack of time and budget to do the subject justice.

Of the 13,000 people who responded, and some of those only work, not live, in the county, 63 per cent, "wanted to retain the current system"? So what was the point?

The recent history of council re-organisation has been botched from day one.

The talks have been without parliamentary debate and legislation, and therefore without structures. Legislation would help to override parochialism, or parish pump politics.
