Have you ever taken peppermint for indigestion and found that it's made your problem worse? Peppermint is famous for helping with wind and IBS but if you're indigestion involves heartburn or acid reflux, it could be worsening the issue.
Our digestive tract is one long tube consisting of different sections that do different jobs. These are separated by valves that can close tight and make it difficult for wind to move past.
Peppermint contains a volatile oil that helps these valves relax, making it easier for gas to pass beyond them. So, if you are prone to bloating and trapped wind, taking peppermint is a great way to ease wind by helping it move through the body and stop it getting stuck.
