SIR KEN DODD was a perennial favourite with audiences in the Black Country and thousands went to see his annual “Happiness Show” when it came to Dudley Town Hall or the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton.
But right from the earliest days of his success, Ken was a regular visitor to the Black Country and not just to our theatres.
These photographs show Ken bringing tears of happiness to the eyes of workers at the BSR Monarch Works in Old Hill.
His visit was on March 1, 1966, and a press release put out by the company a the time read:
