The photograph of Great Bridge Juniors 1910-11, reproduced last month, prompted quite a postbag and much information about the stalwart lads of 65 winters ago, who posa proudly in the picture.

At least two of that talented team still survive, They are Arthur Poston (second from right front row) whose niece, Margaret Allen, of Paganel Drive, Dudley was kind enough to write and tell us that the old warrior is still alive and kicking, still likes a game of "crib" and never tires of talking about his faraway playing days and "Teddy Fisher's Team". Arthur previously lived at Ball Fields, Great Bridge.
The second survivor is George Gilbert, who celebrated his 82nd birthday on March 9. George lives in Moseley Street, Toll End, Tipton and was known in his playing days as "K-legs" (being as knock-kneed as a rag'n boon mon's donkey).
Chatting to George, last week, we were taken back to halycom days before the First World War back even to George's schooldays at Great Bridge School, very early in the century, when he played alongside Freddy Morris, who was, in subsequent years, W. B. Albion's inside-left and won international honours.
George well recalls every face in the Great Bridge Juniors picture. The team was financed and run by Teddy Fisher, a well-known Great Bridge ice-cream mer chant. The changing quar ters were located in a attic room at the rear of his shop and their home ground was situated in Sheepwash Lane.
Teddy was such a canny junior football personality that Ephriams Smith (the famous WBA club official) once told a gathering of football scouts...
