SOLIHULL councillors have opposed a complete switch-off of lights across the borough in the early hours of the morning after safety concerns.

- SAM GREENWAY News Reporter

But they have backed plans to dim lights by 25 per cent in a bid to save cash-strapped Solihull Council money.

Solihull Council is responsible for around 23,500 street lighting units.

But councillors feared the effect on partially-sighted people and women's safety if lights were turned off.
