'Outside of prison is cleaner than our streets'

A MUM claims the outside of Birmingham Prison was cleaner than the streets of her neighbourhood after weeks of uncollected bin bags were left rotting in the streets.

Dennie Holmes said residents of Blackford Street and Clinton Street, in Winson Green, had not had their rubbish taken away for six weeks, despite an assurance a refuse service team would visit on September 18.

She said black bin liners were stacked outside terraced homes, corners, blocking pavements and spilling into the road.

Ms Holmes, 39, a mum-of-two, said: "I walk past the prison and even that is probably cleaner.
