Only way is up against Senegal after excruciating Andorra win

ENGLAND will have to play better with an improved attitude to beat Senegal in tonight's friendly at the City Ground in Nottingham (7.45pm on ITV) than they did in Saturday's 1-0 win over lowly-ranked Andorra in Barcelona. I am sure they will.

Only way is up against Senegal after excruciating Andorra win

However, there were several thoughts to be taken from the dismal Andorra performance.

It will, of course, be long forgotten when England play in next year's World Cup final stages, as they surely will.

They have a manager in Thomas Tuchel who will tell it as it is, whether in the dressing room or in public. The latter is a welcome change after years of England managers giving guarded reactions.

Maybe only the captain Harry Kane can be certain of his place and after Saturday I think this talented squad will have got the message.

Tuchel is on a short contract with a mission to win the World Cup. It's a tough call, even if England have a world ranking of fourth. There are better teams and some better players.

It is true it would be wrong to knee-jerk over the weekend, but Tuchel's attitude needs to be followed by his squad.
