MONCHI, Villa's former president of football operations, has explained his decision to return to Spain.

Monchi left his role last month and was subsequently replaced by Roberto Olabe.

It ended a two-year spell in the West Midlands where he worked alongside Unai Emery with Villa confirming he would still have an advisory role.
