JUDGE: VICTIMS WERE SEMI-CONSCIOUS AND ONE HAD DRINK SPIKED
Philip Duffield
A MAN who raped two young women in a Holiday Inn hotel and attacked a third woman after spiking her drink has been jailed.
Philip Duffield targeted the first two victims, then aged 18 and 20, during a night out in Shrewsbury in 2024.
The 25-year-old was arrested and bailed, but attacked a third woman in Birmingham later that year.
Following a trial, Duffield, of Grosvenor Road, Solihull, was found guilty of two counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration.
On Wednesday, he was jailed for 12 years at Birmingham Crown Court with an extended three-year licence after being declared a “dangerous offender”.
Duffield had been at the Wetherspoons-owned The Shrewsbury Hotel on April 26, 2024 with a friend, who was cleared of charges he was accused of.
There, Duffield targeted the first two victims, who recalled him being sexually aggressive towards them.
After moving on to Albert's Shed and Fever nightclub, the group ended up back at a Holiday Inn.
