'Lame' Ducksch is set for lift-off with Blues!

MARVIN Ducksch is “in a good position” physically now after joining Blues with an injury.

- By ALEX DICKEN

The twice-capped Germany international arrived six weeks ago from Werder Bremen having missed preseason with a calf issue and has been used sparingly by Blues manager Chris Davies in recent games.

Ducksch played 45 minutes of the Carabao Cup defeat to Port Vale before coming off the bench in Championship defeats to Leicester and Stoke.

Davies hasn’t nailed down an attacking combination yet and Ducksch is nearing a stage where he could come into contention for a starting place.

“From a fitness perspective, he’s in a good position now,” he said on the eve of Blues’ home match with Swansea. “He's shown glimpses of what he can do in the games he’s played.

“He's different because he's a bigger presence, he links the game, he’s quite intelligent, and he’s got a goal in his locker as well. Hopefully we can start to utilise him more.”
