I know my place - but Emi won't get it easy vows Bizot

MARCO Bizot’s first month at Villa has exceeded his expectations, as he looks to keep Emi Martinez on his toes as the club's number one.

- By JOHN TOWNLEY

The 34-year-old joined from Stade Brest as a replacement for Robin Olsen, who left the club at the end of his contract to rejoin Malmo in his native Sweden.

Bizot has made the perfect start to life at Villa, impressing in preseason and keeping a clean sheet on his debut against Newcastle last Saturday. Martinez, who was suspended for Villa's Premier League opener, is expected to return to the starting XI for tomorrow's trip to Brentford - and Bizot will understand if manager Unai Emery makes that call.

“I know what I am here for. I know my role. I am here to support him (Martinez) and get him as well to the highest level possible, to push him,” he said. “I try to learn from him and I think we've had a really good relationship from day one.

“I think we can work well together, and for me it is a pleasure to work with him. I’m going to try and push him as much as possible”
