THE college renowned for training some of the best chefs in Birmingham has announced it will open a culinary school in Chelmsley Wood.

- KIRSTY BOSLEY News Reporter

University College Birmingham says that Chelmsley Wood is a 'hotbed of culinary talent' and so it will offer courses for free to nurture aspiring professionals.

As part of the culinary school, it will open an informal eatery for locals to enjoy the creations of the students.

Chefs that trained through the University College Birmingham include Michelin-starred chefs Brad Carter and David Taylor of Grace and Savour at Hampton Manor as well as MasterChef: The Professionals winner Dan Lee.

Chef Glynn Purnell, who owned Michelin Star restaurant Purnell’s before it closed earlier this year, is a Chelmsley Wood native.
