Bravery award for cop who fought off 2 dogs

A BRAVE police officer who helped save a woman's life after she was attacked by two dogs is set for an award.

West Midlands Police Sgt Paul Williams was responding to the 999 call in Yardley at around 2am in May 2024 when he found a woman being mauled by two German shepherd-type dogs.

She had been unable to sleep so had gone for a walk when she attacked.

She suffered severe injuries, was in a critical condition and was said to have been close to dying when Sgt Williams arrived.

He got out of his car and both dogs charged at him. He attempted to Taser one of the dogs but it malfunctioned.

After the attempt, the dogs turned on Sgt Williams but the courageous officer checked his Taser and got out of his car again.

He Tasered one of the dogs, and when the second dog attacked him, he managed to shake it off.
